- Title
Bifunctional lubricants bridge the gap.
- Authors
Tysoe, Wilfred T.; Spencer, Nicholas D.
- Abstract
The article discusses the important function and uses of bifunctional lubricants in enhancing the reactivity and formation of super-low friction tribofilms in sliding interfaces under boundary lubrication conditions. The study on the behavior of such lubricants that have no reactive functional groups is discussed. The result of the study which indicates that such lubricants simultaneously bind both sliding interfaces and reacts to larger forces exerted on them during sliding is offered.
