- Abstract
Lipids from various anatomical parts of Costaria costata were characterized. Differences were found in the contents of individual lipid constituents. Free lipids were isolated from stipe (0.084% of moist mass) and rhizoids (0.079% of moist mass). Thallus typically had lower contents (0.068% of moist mass). A large part of the bound lipids consisted of polar lipids, primarily glyceroglycolipids. A total of 19 fatty acids, i.e., five saturated, three monounsaturated, and 11 polyunsaturated, were detected.
