- Abstract
This study analyzed how teachers process disruptive student behavior emotionally and cognitively. 179 students were presented with a video case that showed a classroom disruption – half of them were able to see the perspective of the disruptive student while the other half were not. Afterwards, the subjects reported whether they had attributed the disruptive behaviour as stable or as variable and which emotion regulation strategy (cognitive change, attentional deployment, suppression, venting) they would have employed in that situation. The results show that attribution and emotion regulation are related, and that this relationship can be influenced positively by taking the student perspective.
