- Authors
WILLIS, A. J.
- Abstract
The article examines the effects of major mineral nutrients on the growth of Ammorphila arenaria, marram grass, in dune sand. According to the results of the experiment, when a major mineral nutrients were added to sand on a dune slope bearing, a pure stand of Ammophila arenaria, a marked improvement in its growth, was observed. The most important effects of the addition of mineral nutrients were the increased density of the shoots of the marram, the taller growth and the general improvement in vegetative vigour of the plants.
