- Abstract
A linear theory is developed for a Cherenkov microwave amplifier with a slow-wave system in the form of a circular waveguide with a dielectric rod. In this system the rod antenna can couple out the radiation into free space without additional channels and mode converters. An analysis is made of the general case with no azimuthal symmetry and conditions are determined where the dominant TEMll asymmetric mode predominates.
