- Authors
Carlson II, Andrew J.
- Abstract
The article discusses the Delta Barley Project in Alaska, which was designed to revive agriculture after the statehood, and to make Alaska the "breadbasket of the world." It mentions that Barney Hollembaek, a World War II veteran from Iowa, was one of the farmers who tried their hand in the Delta Barley Project and became one of its best farmers, however, large sections of Palmer's farmland were turned into housing subdivisions during the 1970s, and Hollembaek decided to move to Delta in 1979.
