The provisional restoration - an instrument in full-mouth reconstruction.
- Authors
Schweikert, Edgar O.
- Abstract
The article discusses provisional restoration in dentistry and also presents the case of a 45-year-old male patient, who wore a maxillary fixed partial denture to replace teeth 12,15, 21, 22, 24 and 26. Endodontic therapy was performed on the patient and posts were inserted on teeth 11, 13, and 23. It is informed that provisional restorations protect the pulp and soft tissues, and provide positional stability. It is reported that provisional restorations should be adapted to prevent unnecessary exposure to fluids. It is stated that provisional restorations must maintain the relationship to the adjacent and opposing teeth.
