- Abstract
The article analyzes the factors which may negatively affect periodontal therapy. To achieve and maintain acceptable periodontal conditions after the therapy, as reported, it is important to successfully treat and eliminate gingival inflammation or even periodontitis before beginning the prosthetic reconstruction. Sometimes, as reported, prosthetic treatment, which follows the therapy, may negatively affect the latter either through the effects of the prosthetic construction phases or through functional effects. Construction phases damages, as reported, include damage to the periodontium during impression taking. Functional effects, as reported, are associated with the influences which the cemented reconstruction may exert on the periodontium or the gingiva beneath the reconstruction.
