- Abstract
A biography of Baptist pastor William Walter Melton is presented. He was born in Texas in 1879. He worked as a cowboy before becoming a pastor and committee member in the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT). His views on the education of Baptist clergy and anti-intellectualism among Baptists are addressed. His advocacy of liberal arts education is noted. He died in 1967.
