- Abstract
Pakistan's upcoming general elections, scheduled for February 8, 2024, are of great significance for the country and the region. The elections will be conducted under a revised framework due to the outcome of the 2023 digital census, which will influence the apportionment of voting seats. There are concerns about the military's potential overreach and the postponement of the census, but Pakistan's institutions have previously demonstrated their capacity to administer impartial elections. The elections will determine the trajectory of Pakistan's democracy, economy, regional stability, and security stance, and will also have implications for its global standing and diplomatic engagements. It is crucial for Pakistanis to participate in an election that upholds openness and democracy, as it presents an opportunity to strengthen the country's democratic ethos and pave the way for a thriving and peaceful nation in 2024.
