- Title
Self-Reported Visual Impairment Among Persons With Diagnosed Diabetes-- United States, 1997-2010.
- Abstract
The article describes the results of the analysis by the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of data from the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) about self-reported visual impairment (VI) among persons with diagnosed diabetes in the U.S. from 1997-2010. The analysis indicated a significant decline in the age-adjusted percentage of adults with diagnosed diabetes with VI from 23.7 percent to 16.7 percent in 2010. The prevalence of self-reported VI declined in all age groups, males and females, Hispanic and non-Hispanic ethnic groups, in adults with high education or less, and those with self-reported diabetes regardless of current insulin use. The prevalence of self-reported diabetes remained constant among those with an eye care provider. INSET: Untitle.
