- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated beliefs about the preparedness of physicians for reporting fellow physicians who are impaired or otherwise incompetent to practice medicine. The authors examined data from a nationally representative survey of 2,938 eligible physicians practicing several medicine specialties, such as anesthesiology and cardiology, in the U.S. in 2009. It was found that majority of surveyed physicians agreed with the professional commitment to report physicians who are not fit to practice medicine.
