- Abstract
This article discusses the coexistence and potential tolerance between wolves and golden jackals in India. While wolves are known to have a low tolerance for other Canidae species, such as golden jackals, the study found unexpected cases of high tolerance between the two species in a human-dominated landscape in Maharashtra, India. The researchers observed instances of wolves and jackals feeding simultaneously on a carcass, as well as an adult wolf female integrated into a group of jackals. These observations suggest a high degree of tolerance between wolves and jackals in certain contexts, particularly when there is abundant food availability. The article highlights the need for further research to understand the extent of this tolerance in other areas with different ecological conditions.
