- Abstract
Discovers that growth cone filopodia of cortical neurons may also be localized sources of diffusible signals including neurotransmitters. Motile structure of the growth cone tip of a developing axon specialized for sensing the local environment during axon pathfinding; Discovery of motile vesicles in filopodia resembling synaptic vesicles by their protein content, by use of live imaging of a green fluorescent protein (GFP)-tagged version of the synaptic vesicle protein VAMP2; Rapid change in directions of some vesicles throughout the length of the filopodia.
