Despite Effectiveness, Behavioral Therapy for Chronic Insomnia Still Underused.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article reports that cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) is underused. Sleep specialists are working to improve CBT-I delivery in primary care settings. Sleep restriction and stimulus control are the two main behavioral strategies used to combat insomnia. Panelists at the U.S. National Institutes of Health state-of-the-science conference on insomnia claim that cognitive behavioral therapies have demonstrated efficacy. The small number of trained practitioners is cited as a hurdle to broader use of CBT-1.
