- Title
Green Energy Bust in Germany.
- Authors
BOISVERT, WILL
- Abstract
The article looks at energy policy in Germany, as of 2013. It notes the country's Energiewende, or policy of shutting down its nuclear power plants and shifting to renewable sources for electricity production, including wind and solar. It says the electric power industry did not significantly take this direction in 2012, reporting that fossil fuels accounted for about as much of the country's electricity production in 2012 as in 2011. Topics include the performance of solar and wind power plants, the cost of electricity, and government subsidies for renewable energy. Peter Altmaier, Germany's environment minister, is cited.
