- Abstract
What is the strength of non-violence in the face of political hatred? The growing wave of demonstrations against democracy and attacks on vulnerable groups indicate the need to discuss the premises of these phenomena as a condition for dealing with them. This text outlines some aspects of the relationship between hate as a policy and the potential for its neutralization based on non-violence, taking Judith Butler's thought as a reference, in dialogue with other authors. The argument unfolds in three parts: (1) the emergence of hate as a political category, materialized in discourses on social networks and aggression is based on (2) a distorted conception of otherness, formed by the invisibility of the face of the other (3) recovered by the organized performativity of an active non-violence.
