- Abstract
This paper presents the findings of a multi-choice self-report questionnaire generating both quantitative and qualitative data regarding the cost barriers to recovery for victim/survivors of sexual violence. Fifty questionnaires, available both in hardcopy and in electronic format as an online questionnaire, were completed by victim/survivors of whom 96% were female and 4% were male. Respondents were queried on four cost barriers categories: accessing services, recovery, feeling safe, and seeking justice. The findings confirm the existence of a broad range of tangible, intangible, and opportunity costs to victims that can hinder or stall the journey to recovery.
