- Abstract
The search for greater tolerance to drought crops including soybean has been desired by researchers. The development of water absorbent products emerges as a new alternative to prolong the period of crop tolerance to water deficit to retain the adsorbed water molecules in the soil and then make them available to the root system of plants. The aim of this study was to evaluate water absorbent polymers in five application concentration about the soybean yield components. This work was developed on the Campus of UFSM in Frederico Westphalen - RS, in the season 2011-2012. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design in a factorial (3x5) treatment x doses, distributed in six repetitions. The water absorbent were Green Gel, Emdsap, e Fitogel, at the concentration 0, 2, 5, 10 e 20 kg ha-1 . The components evaluated were: grain yield, thousand grain weight, grain yield per plant, number of pods per plant, number of grains per pod, number of grains per plant. The water absorbent Green Gel increases the number of grains per plant, grain yield per plant and number of pods per plant, but none of water absorbent affected grain yield.
