- Abstract
The infections are a major problem faced by the population. There are many types of measures taken to reduce these infections, from simple hand washing and use of 70% alcohol which has optimal concentration for bactericidal activity, because the denaturation of proteins of the microorganism (act in the plasma membrane or bacterial cell wall, inhibiting its synthesis and causing its destruction) it is more quickly in the presence of water, as this facilitates the entry of the alcohol into the microorganism. The alcohol 70% is also virucidal. This article aimed to verify the quality of 70% alcohol used in the application of injectable medicines in pharmacies in the cities of São Jorge do Ivaí, Ourizona e Mandaguaçú -- PR. The study was conducted in June 2012, where twenty samples were collected for alcohol, containing 50 ml each. The samples were analyzed in the laboratory of analytical chemistry at Uningá College. The results of the samples ranged from 62.6 to 90.7% weight / volume, concluding that the samples are very dispersed, thereby possibly, alcohol 70% did not exert its antiseptic functions desired.
