- Abstract
The article "B2B E-Commerce: The Future Begins Now - Status Quo, Trends, and Perspectives" deals with the topic of B2B E-Commerce and the current trends and perspectives in this area. It is noted that the purchasing behavior of consumers and buyers is increasingly shifting from traditional in-store purchases to online shopping. B2B companies use online shops and marketplaces to acquire products and services for their own businesses. A study by ibi research shows that over half of the surveyed companies sell through their own online shops, with this distribution channel being particularly popular among small businesses. The digitization of distribution channels will establish itself in the long term, with the own online shop being considered particularly relevant. Manufacturers are increasingly focusing on direct sales to end consumers and plan to further expand this. However, digitization is progressing at different speeds in various areas of companies. The study examines the current state of digitization in B2B E-Commerce for manufacturers and wholesalers. While areas such as marketing, information management, finance, and sales are already highly digitized, there is still a need for catch-up in the areas of customer relations, personnel, and infrastructure. The planning of digitization varies depending on the company size, with small companies wanting to further digitize marketing, sales, and inventory management. Large companies focus on marketing, sales, and customer relations. The study also shows that the pandemic has driven digitization forward, but there are still obstacles such as time, employees, knowledge, and money. Sustainability is also becoming increasingly relevant as customers pay more attention to sustainable products. The study emphasizes the importance of digital distribution channels and the need for better quality product data. Companies should align themselves with current trends to remain competitive.
