- Title
El castellano en documentos del siglo XIX: testimonios de manos inhábiles.
- Authors
Martínez, Carmen Isasi; Fernández, Javier Enríquez
- Abstract
The analysis of a set of 'war bonds' written in Biscay in early nineteenth century reveals the presence of characteristic features of the writing of unskilled hands, as well as graphic and morphosyntactic phenomena that can be interpreted in light of their Basque-Romanic origin. Given the chronology of the documents, both aspects are highly significant for the history of the Spanish language in general, and more specifically for the history of Castilian and its being in contact with the Basque language.
