An essay is presented in which the author of the book "Snow Falling on Cedars" discusses the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its publication. He examines the influence of the book "On Moral Fiction" by author John Gardner, his romanticism, and his experiences on Bainbridge Island, Washington. He also discusses his ambition, novels by white American authors on the subject of race, and criticism of "Snow Falling on Ceders" by writer Harold Bloom.
