Trouble Paying Medical Bills Trends Down in US.
- Authors
Harris, Emily
- Abstract
Medical News in Brief A 2021 survey of more than 37 000 people in the US found that 10.8% live in families that had trouble paying medical bills in the last 12 months. Pandemic-related legislation - such as the CARES Act and the American Rescue Plan - that provided direct payments, increased unemployment support, and improved paid sick leave might have shored up families' abilities to pay, the authors wrote.
