- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examines the interconnections between the impoliteness and identity co-construction of the talent show "Idol" in Great Britain and the U.S. The study based its examination on a corpus of 160 video clips of the show and was transcribed and subjected to a qualitative, discourse-analytic reading. Results show that impoliteness are found to ensues as identities are not verified by interlocutors.
