- Abstract
In this article the authors discuss the uncertainty of the role of oxygen therapy to patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in Great Britain. They note that harmful mechanisms of oxygen include the reduction of coronary blood flow, increased vascular resistance from hyperoxia and reperfusion injury from oxygen free radicals. Moreover, they explore the position of paramedics to resolve these uncertainties by participating in approved randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
