- Abstract
This article presents information on coincidences of names, Anglo-Scottish connections and Anglo-Saxon society in the late eleventh-century West Country. An investigation of this coincidence brings to light connections between these two families and some common contexts; these connections are perhaps more noteworthy than the coincidence of names on its own. As well as attempting to establish some discrete facts about the life of a little documented Scottish king and engaging in a game of historical snap, it is argued here that exploring both these coincidences of names can inform current thinking on the nature and extent of Anglo-Scottish relations in the late eleventh and early twelfth centuries.
