- Abstract
The article explores the concept of nonkilling public health, which aims to eliminate violence and its consequences in society. It acknowledges the global issue of violence and its negative effects on individuals, communities, and economies. The article emphasizes the importance of primary prevention strategies that address various factors at different levels, such as individual, relationship, community, and societal factors. By adopting a social-ecological model, the public health approach seeks to understand and address the complex factors that contribute to violence and promote nonkilling societies. The text discusses several strategies for preventing violence and promoting nonkilling, including after-school programs, safe havens for children, violence prevention coalitions, and more. The effectiveness of these strategies varies, and further research is needed to evaluate their impact. Nonetheless, the public health approach shows promise in reducing violence and moving towards a nonkilling society.
