- Abstract
Seyit Ali Sultan's followes are living in Thrace and Western Thrace. Those who live in Thrace are settled around Edirne and Uzunköprü environments. Those who live in Western Thrace are settled around Gümülcine (Komotini) especially in the willages around The Seçek Plateu. They continue to worship together in Bektashî order and during their worship they use music. They play Bağlama and sing either individually or together a kind of hymn called as "Nefes". Generally they call their secret meetings (rituals) as "Ayn-i Cem / Ayin-i Cem" or shortly "muhabbet". Vahit Lütfi Salci published some musical notes and writings about their music from Thracian Bektashî followers in 1940. He was the first person who wrote about Bektashi music of Thrace. Later on Muzaffer Sarisözen, Hâlil Bedii Yönetken and Riza Yetisen recorded some Bektashi Nefeses from Vahit Lütfi Salci 1n 1945. Some nefeses from Ali Tanburaci took place in the book Turkish Folk Dances published by Cemil Demirsipahi. Finally the nefeses from Thrace took place in the book Trakya Bölgesinin Tasavvufi Hâlk Müziği (Tasavvuf Folk Music of Thrace Region) were published by The Ministry of Culture in 2002. Music traditions of the followers of Seyit Ali Sultan were not reserached enough and published yet in Turkey. This work is a highlight of the music traditions of Seyit Ali Sultan's followers both in Thracia and in Western Thracia.
