- Title
MONASTIC WITNESS III: DISTINCTIVENESS.
- Authors
Carruth, Shawn
- Abstract
The article presents the author's reflections on the features and lessons of monasticism, particularly the sense of "distinctiveness" where monasteries and those who live in them are removed from popular society and seek a life which is "set apart." Meditations on the life of the Virgin Mary are included discussing her childhood in the Jerusalem Temple and the protection of her heart from temptations and distractions. Extensions are then made regarding this premise in contemporary monastic life and formation.
