- Abstract
The article examine the efforts of the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) to prevent breaches resulting from information security failures. Topics discussed include investigatory and decision-making procedures adopted in data breach-related OAIC's Own Motion Investigation (OMI), the Commissioner's investigations and interest in data breach cases, and need of expansion of OAIC powers to adequately conduct the OMI.
