- Authors
Terrill, Leon
- Abstract
The article discusses the introduction of section 19A of the Aboriginal Land Rights (Northern Territory) Act 1976 to provide a new form of leasing in communities of Aboriginal land in New South Wales. It argues the debate of individual and communal land ownership that governs arrangements for land use decision-making in Aboriginal communities. However, the Australian Labor Party opposed the township leasing due to its impact on Aboriginal land ownership. Meanwhile, the Labor Government takes a different approach to community leasing from the former Government.
