- Abstract
The article discusses a study which examined the thermodynamic behavior of chlorine in blast furnaces during ironmaking. The reaction between CaO-SiO2-Al2O3 slags and H2 + HCl + H2O gas mixtures were investigated. A reaction defined the dissolution of chlorine into molten slags. The dependence of chlorine solubility on temperature suggests that chlorine dissolution is an exothermic reaction.
