- Title
"La época está en desorden": reflexiones sobre la temporalidad en Bolivia de Adrián Caetano y La mujer sin cabeza de Lucrecia Martel.
- Authors
Quirós, Daniel
- Abstract
The article explores the concept of time in the Argentine films "Bolivia," directed by Adrián Caetano, and "La mujer sin cabeza," directed by Lucrecia Martel, in the context of neoliberalism before and after the Argentine economic crisis of 2001. In particular, it asserts that both films, examples of so-called new Argentine cinema (Nuevo Cine Argentino), oppose the theory posited by social theorist David Harvey that the neoliberal economic system has brought about a compression and acceleration of time. The article maintains that both films look beyond the economic and classist aspects of neoliberalism to address racial and gender elements as well.
