- Abstract
The author argues on the invocation of 2012 Democratic National Convention, congressman and civil rights activist John Lewis of the sacred as an aspect of the right and activity of voting opens us up to the essence of the sacred. He stresses the concept of the sacred within it a broad range of meanings, which speaks to its status as a fundamental mode of human experience. He also cites the need to understand the role of semeiotic in constituting community as a need for shared worlds.
