- Title
Scapolite with diopside inclusions.
- Authors
Koivulax, John I.; Chadwick, Karen M.
- Abstract
The article presents the result of an examination of a scapolite gem stone with diopside inclusions, which was donated by Fabrice Danet to GIA for standard gemological testing. Based on the tests, these inclusions are black and randomly oriented, with no apparent crystallographic orientation or relation to their host. Further analysis shows that there is a presence of barite, which appears to be small light orange fuzzy-looking inclusions in association with the diopside inclusions. There was also some ultra-fine hare-like fibers within the stone.
