- Abstract
The article presents information about a new turquoise mining site in Kerman, Iran. Owned by local people from the city, turquoise was discovered while workers at the site were looking for copper. In the 2007-2008 mining season. around 800 to 1,000 kilograms of mixed-quality turquoise were obtained from the mine. Raman analysis that turquoise from the mine contains quartz, pyrite and chalcopyrite. Weak blue fluorescence were observed when turquoise samples were subjected to long-wave ultraviolet (UV) radiation.
