- Abstract
The article reports on the jewelry industry in the Gulf region. In Dubai, the diamond jewelry accounted for half of the estimated $3 billion retail jewelry sales in 2006. The average per-capita jewelry sale in Dubai was $2,500 which is considered the world's highest by far. Consumers in the Gulf region prefer diamonds in all shapes and with certificates from international laboratories. International brands of diamond watches are quite popular and the favored colored stones are emeralds, rubies and sapphires.
