- Title
Harvesting water and minerals from waste slurries with supercritical water oxidation.
- Abstract
A new supercritical water oxidation (SCWO) technology called AirSCWO has been developed by 374Water Inc. The technology, which originated from Duke University, is capable of producing clean water and minerals from waste slurries. The process involves mixing a pumpable slurry of waste with ambient air and preheating it before entering a pipe reactor, where rapid oxidation reactions dissociate organic waste into inorganic compounds, CO2, and water. The process aims to overcome technical challenges associated with existing SCWO systems and is engineered for the use of ambient air as the oxidant, reducing cost and improving safety.
