- Abstract
This article examines the issue of racial bias in photography, particularly the misrepresentation of dark skin tones. It discusses how photographic technologies have historically been calibrated for white skin, leading to inaccurate representations of people with dark skin. The article also highlights the role of Adobe Lightroom presets in perpetuating biases by centering Black skin as a problem to be solved. The author argues that these biases are harmful and reinforce white-supremacist narratives. The article calls for critical analysis of visual technologies and the need to address racial biases in photography, particularly in the context of wedding photography and editing.
