- Abstract
In the field of higher education, reading and writing are key communication skills for the construction of knowledge by the university student. The objective of the study is to characterize the student's profile in terms of reading and writing of discursive genres in higher education. The study was carried out under a quantitative methodology, with a non-experimental design, and a cross-sectional descriptive approach, applying a non-probabilistic sampling for convenience to university students. The results obtained show that it is imperative to teach specific subjects dedicated to training in reading and writing of discursive genres in all curricula of university degrees, and university teachers should be made aware of the vital attention that reading and writing should receive. in your content planning. Reading and writing are interactive and constructive processes, but at the same time interdependent.
