- Abstract
The article discusses about the role of music which fosters contemplation in the sacred liturgies celebrated in Africa. It further discusses about Erich M. von Hornbostel, one of the pioneer scholars of ethnomusicology; centrality of motion and action in the making of the music in the liturgy in Nigeria; the instruction of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments; and also mentions about Benedict XVI, Gregorian chant and polyphony.
