Presents an interview with Veena Das who taught at the University of Delhi for 33 years and, as of 2004, is the Krieger-Eisenhower Professor of Anthropology at Johns Hopkins University. Her recent books include "Critical Events: An Anthropological Perspective on Contemporary India" and "Remaking a World: Violence, Social Suffering, and Recovery." She is a foreign honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and received an honorary doctorate from the University of Chicago. This interview presents her views on the relationship between religion and violence.
