- Abstract
The article discusses the shooting death of Texas Revolution leader and businessman Samuel Rhoads Fisher in Matagora, Texas in 1839. Particular focus is given to the author's research on the murder and its possible connection to the social circle of politician and solider Sam Houston. Details on Fisher's feud with politician Albert Clinton Horton, and on Horton's connections to Fisher's accused murder, Albert G. Newton, are presented.
