- Title
HOW TO REWRITE AN INSURANCE CODE.
- Authors
Mayerson, Allen L.
- Abstract
The article discusses some points to consider in rewriting an insurance code in the U.S. The principal purpose of insurance regulation is to make sure that insurance companies keep their promises. When the goals of insurance regulation have been established, the next thing to consider is how to achieve them. In rewriting an insurance code, various functions of insurance regulation should be considered. Insurance code should specify minimum capital or surplus that a company must possess before the start of operation. Careful definition of the type of contract to which the specific regulations are applicable is also required.
