- Authors
COOPER, FRANK RUDY
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the reported hyper-incarceration of black men in the U.S. as of May 2013, focusing on black male identity performance, racial profiling, and Michelle Alexander's book "The New Jim Crow." Slavery and the historical oppression of black people in America are addressed, along with then-U.S. President Ronald Reagan's declaration of a "War on Drugs." The U.S. Supreme Court's jurisprudence on strip searches of individuals is examined.
