- Abstract
This study aimed to identify the reasons for students in the United Arab Emirates to join the study of social sciences, and the researcher designed a questionnaire that included four axes, the first axis is social reasons, the second axis is cultural reasons, the third axis is the characteristics of materials in social sciences, the fourth axis is the characteristics of admission In social sciences, it was distributed electronically to a number of students of the Department of sociology, which amounted to (700) male and female students, and the return of them was (199). The results of the study revealed that some of the reasons for students’ tendency to join the study of social sciences are the following, the desire to interact with society and solve people’s problems, love for the social sciences specialization, study in the Arabic language, the ease of its terminology, and the admission requirements for the college and department are easy and there are no special conditions, the sincere desire to join Specializing without influence from any individual, whether it is a friend, brother or father. The Sociology Department does not require the degree of the English language proficiency exam, whether TOEFL or IELTS, ease of specialization, completion of studies in a short period of time, good reputation of faculty members, tuition fees in Accessible to all, adequate guidance for students in colleges and majors important in the labour market, and finally the high school percentage required to join the college is suitable for all.
