- Abstract
The membrane filtration performance of anaerobic membrane bioreactor (AnMBR) for treating real organic fraction of municipal solid waste (OFMSW) leachate was investigated under different membrane filtration fluxes [7 L/(m²·h), 6 L/(m²·h), 5 L/(m²·h), 4 L/(m²·h)], and the resistance distribution after membrane fouling was analyzed. The system was operated for 104 days at conditions of hydraulic retention time (HRT) of 10 days, solid retention time (SRT) of 100 days and organic loading rate (OLR) of 5 - 6 g-COD/(L·d). Results showed that the chemical oxygen demand (COD) removal efficiency was improved from 90% to 93% with the increase of flux. When the system running at initial flux of 6 L/(m²·h), the filtration performance was excellent. Irreversible foulant formed rapidly when the flux increased to 7 L/(m²·h), which couldn't be reversed if the flux reduced to 5 L/(m²·h) or even 4 L/(m²·h). The distribution of filtration resistance was measured via membrane cleaning procedure, and the results showed that cake layer was the dominant foulant, accounting for 52% of the total resistance. Reducing the operating flux had a poor effect on the recovery of irreversible pollution, and chemical cleaning should be carried out in time. The cleaning strategy can be adjusted by analyzing the characteristics of foulant, and optimizing the dosage of cleaning reagent.
