- Title
Lydia in Acts 16: 'The Lord opened her heart'.
- Authors
McCarty, V. K.
- Abstract
The description of Paul's encounter with Lydia, the purple-cloth dealer and God-fearer who appears praying at the river in Acts 16, offers a remarkable glimpse into the missionary work of the apostle and introduces a colorful character in Paul's life who made a significant contribution to the development of the primitive Church in Philippi. Lydia's open heart to the Gospel of Christ, as well as her generosity in opening her home to Paul's missionary band and the earliest group of believers, are remembered as the work of the Spirit in the Early Church.
