- Abstract
Excerpts from July 1851 government reports of Royal Commissions, Select Committees, and other British Parliamentary papers are presented. Information regarding the imprisonment of Chartist Ernest Charles Jones in 1848 for sedition found in documents HC 540 and HC 432 is presented. The Parliament's House of Common's Report from the Select Committee on Newspaper Stamps (HC 558) discusses the duties imposed on British periodicals and newspapers and the expected government revenues generated by such taxes.
